A range of pictures helping people understand complex COVID-19 messages has been made available in te reo Māori courtesy of The Spinoff.
The suite of illustrations and gifs have been created by microbiologist Siouxsie Wiles and illustrator Toby Morris.
The news web site says the pictures have had an undeniable impact during the Covid-19 crisis.
“They offer clear communication of sometimes complex concepts, and their popularity has seen them shared by the prime minister and international media, and in some cases (ahem), adapted by other governments,” The Spinoff says.
“But most importantly, they’re now available in te reo Māori! Rawe!”
The messages have been translated by author and kaiako Hēmi Kelly (Sleeps Standing Moetū, A Maori Phrase a Day). Eight are currently available, with more to follow in coming weeks.
Go to The Spinoff where you can save the images your desktop or you can download a folder with all eight.
